Next time students travel to Europe, they have a good chance of running into stars from the cast of MTV’s Real World.

Randy Barry, a cast member from MTV’s "Real World San Diego," came to Purdue Wednesday night to speak at STA Travel’s first Summer Travel Night. Barry spent four months backpacking in Europe, and during his experience on "Real World," took a trip to Greece with the rest of the cast.

"(Barry) is well-traveled and understands what students his age want to do on their summer breaks," said Jaqueline Kyle, travel branch manager for STA Travel. "Most students don’t know there are discounts just for being young and in school."

The company held this seminar to discuss travel destinations, safety, planning and saving money on a student budget.

"Our goal is to help students with a traveling budget," said Amanda Whited, a travel adviser for the company. "We focus on summer travel and allow students to customize their trips any way they’d like."

STA Travel is the largest student and youth travel company and is located inside the Union.

Barry, speaking on behalf of the company, gave students advice for planning their trip and even shared some stories from his experience on "Real World."

"Prague is my favorite place in Europe," he said. "I’d always leave the other countries I was in and head back to Prague for the weekend."

Barry suggested students be realistic when planning their budget, buy travel insurance and stay flexible in order to have the best experience on their trips.

Barry also gave away dozens of prizes, including a $1,200 rail pass for use in any European country.
