Safety Taylor Richards was arrested Saturday for operating while intoxicated and minor consumption according to the Purdue Police Department.

Head coach Darrell Hazell released a statement through Purdue's a Associate Athletics Communications Director Matt Rector.

"Purdue head football coach Darrell Hazell is aware of last Saturday's arrest of Taylor Richards," said Rector in an email. "Hazell takes such matters seriously and respects that there is an ongoing legal process that he will allow to evolve before determining any possible internal disciplinary action."

Richards finished the 2013 season with 64 tackles and one interception.
