For the eighth consecutive semester, grades for the fraternity, sorority and cooperative organizations have surpassed the all-undergraduate GPAs in the fall semester.

The semesterly report of grades and accomplishments of the community were released on Wednesday afternoon by the Office of the Dean of Students.

The group’s fall grades averaged 3.07 while the undergraduate population stood at 3.04. Fraternities, sororities and cooperatives comprise 21.9 percent of the undergraduate population and they accounted for nearly 50,000 community service hours and more than $810,000 in philanthropic contributions, according to the report.

For the first time, the Fall 2017 report broke out Purdue University Dance Marathon donations of $475,357 out of the $810,679 total philanthropic fund-raising.

Four councils comprise the fraternity, sorority and cooperative community. They include (number of organizations, number of members and average fall GPA), ranked by GPA (highest to lowest):

• Panhellenic, 21 groups, 2,734, 3.21 GPA

• Cooperatives, 12, 394, 3.17

• Multicultural Greek, 11, 125, 3.02

• Interfraternity 40, 3,447, 2.95

• National Pan-Hellenic, 9, 77, 2.78

Among the 21 Panhellenic groups, the top five by GPA included:

• Kappa Alpha Theta, 3.37 GPA, 143 members

• Alpha Chi Omega, 3.35, 142

• Delta Gamma, 3.35, 148

• Kappa Kappa Gamma, 3.33, 146

• Chi Omega, 3.32, 141

Among the 12 cooperatives, the top three by GPA included:

• Glenwood, 3.3 GPA, 35 members

• Stewart, 3.31, 33

• Circle Pines, 3.25, 57

Among the 11 Multicultural Greeks, the top three by GPA included:

• Alpha Kappa Delta Phi, 3.22 GPA, 38 members

• Delta Phi Lambda, 3.20, 18

• Sigma Lambda Beta, 3.15, 6

Among the 40 fraternities, the top 5 by GPA included:

• Phi Kappa Theta, 3.33 GPA, 26 members

• Pi Kappa Phi, 3.27, 145

• Theta Xi, 3.24, 27

• FarmHouse, 3.16, 111

• Phi Kappa Sigma, 3.15, 19

Among the nine National Pan-Hellenic groups, the top 3 by GPA included:

• Sigma Gamma Rho, 3.38 GPA, 2 members

• Delta Sigma Theta, 3.17, 15

• Zeta Phi Beta, 2.95, 6

Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity led all 93 organizations in both philanthropy dollars ($112,354) and service hours (5,040). The closest competitors were Alpha Gamma Delta with $61,639 in fund-raising and Sigma Kappa with 2,548 service hours.

Zeta Beta Tau was the largest organization with 175 members.
