A new ice cream called "Moon Rocks" will be available this weekend from Round Barn Creamery for the Apollo 11 50th anniversary.
The light chocolate ice cream - half the chocolate the company normally uses - will include mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips, Christy Coon said Wednesday.
After this weekend, she said makers will likely whip up another batch for the upcoming Sunflower Festival, July 26 and 27 at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette. Whatever is leftover may be available at Boilermaker Butcher Block on campus.
Coons said the ice cream will be available for a limited time, but she is unsure how long that time would be.
She said Round Barn Creamery was asked to design the ice cream as a part of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
The ice cream will be sold at Memorial Mall noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. A half-pint will be $4.
