A "business transaction" led to an armed robbery on campus about 4 a.m. today, police say.
According to an email alert, the incident happened near the Northwest Athletic Complex off McCormick Road and Cherry Lane.
The 19-year-old victim, not affiliated with Purdue, was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released, police said in a press release this afternoon. The victim had gone to the area for a "business transaction" and was met by three people who had a weapon. Police have not identified what kind of weapon was used or whether the victim was on foot.
Police said the victim, who they have not identified, had his cell phone and wallet taken and used a campus emergency phone to alert them.
The suspects fled northbound on McCormick Road in a silver vehicle, the alert said. They are described as two black males and one white female, according to the email.
