4/18/14 Nobel laureate Ei-ichi Negishi and his wife, Sumire

Nobel laureate Ei-ichi Negishi and his wife, Sumire, stand with a bronze bust unveiled at Purdue on April 18, 2014. The bust of Negishi will join that of the late Herbert C. Brown, Negishi's mentor and Purdue's first Nobel Prize winner, on permanent display inside the Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry.

A coroner's office is reporting that the wife of a Nobel Prize-winning professor died of exposure and hypothermia.

Exponent news partner WLFI-TV reports that the Ogle County Coroner's office reports the death of Sumire Negishi as accidental. 

The 80-year old woman was initially found by police in a vehicle on March 13 in an Illinois landfill. Police also found professor Ei-ichi Negishi nearby.
