Starship Delivery

A line of Starship robots sits behind the Honors College and Residences North on Sept. 9, waiting to fill orders from Così, one of its campus partner restaurants.

As the future of food-delivery robots has become a reality for Purdue students, the robots have struggled to adjust to the everyday woes of navigating a crowded campus.

On Tuesday, a report was made to the Purdue University Police Department because a Starship robot was stuck in the middle of a crosswalk at Second and Russell streets. An officer was dispatched to assist the robot in crossing the street.

A common struggle for the robots has been navigating busy crosswalks. On the Purdue subreddit, students have taken to posting pictures and videos of the four-wheeled bots in precarious situations.
