Purdue President Mitch Daniels nearly became the victim of an email scam Wednesday afternoon, according to police logs.
An individual attempted to change Daniels' direct deposit information via email, Purdue spokesman Tim Doty said in an email.
An employee noticed the fraud and stopped it, Doty said, and Daniels later called to thank her.
Purdue police was called to Hovde Hall about a possible fraud and is investigating the matter.
"People try computer scams all the time and Purdue is always working on our systems and processes to protect our people and our University," Doty said. "The president urges everyone on campus to remain vigilant and protect their personal information at all times."
