Hundreds of students crowded on Slayter Hill Saturday night to sled and throw snowballs as West Lafayette experienced several inches of heavy snow. Those who had sleds brought them; those who didn't made use of tables, slabs of cardboard, plastic lids to storage bins and whatever else they could find. Many students who gathered did so without face coverings. After about two hours of euphoria, interspersed with students being knocked down by sledders or tumbling down the hard-packed snow, the Purdue University Police Department broke up the scene.
