Purdue President Mitch Daniels confirmed Tuesday during a WBAA segment that the donation made to Purdue by the Schnatter Family Foundation is in the process of being returned.
Though the total donation was $8 million, only $1 million had been received by Purdue so far. That amount is being returned.
“Only $1 million of the eight had actually been delivered and it’s being returned,” Daniels said in the WBAA piece.
The announcement that the donation would be offered back to the foundation came after the Purdue Board of Trustees voted to take Schnatter's name off an entrepreneurship center in the Krannert School of Management.
The previously named John H. Schnatter Center for Economic Research at Purdue is now the Purdue University Research Center in Economics.
