3/15/19 drug haul

Indiana State Police say they found these boxes of drugs during a routine traffic stop Thursday on Interstate 70 in Hendricks County.

Indiana State Police pulled over a box truck following too closely in traffic along Interstate 70 in Hendricks County on Thursday.

What they say they found put a kink in the plans of two 27-year-olds on their back from Burbank, California, with about $3.5 million worth of drugs.

Danny J. Luttrell II, who was driving, and Brandon M. Pierson, both of Indianapolis, were pulled over by a trooper who allegedly smelled marijuana, according to a press release.

A search of the vehicle produced about 250 pounds of marijuana and 50,000 vape cartridges filled with THC, the active, high-producing ingredient in marijuana.

Both men were arrested on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana.
