After 14 years of serving up a variety of gyros, Captain Gyros is closing its doors in Chauncey.
A handwritten note taped to the door appeared on Monday, reading, “We are sorry to inform you that we are permanently closed.”
A typed sign plastered on the door noted that the restaurant’s closure was because of the owner’s health.
The two signs are the only indication the restaurant is closing. Captain Gyros could not be reached for comment as of Wednesday. There is no requirement for a restaurant to communicate closures to the city, according to Erik Carlson, West Lafayette director of development.
The typed notice ends with a thank you for “making Captain Gyros one of the most popular eating establishments in West Lafayette."
