While nearing the end of an overnight shift, an impatient customer spat on a Five Guys employee over the time it took to make his food.
In the early morning hours on Sunday, 25-year-old Roderick Mayes was upset over his food taking too long to make, said Lieutenant Jon Eager of the West Lafayette Police Department.
Mayes then reportedly spat on the 48-year-old Five Guys employee with less than an hour before close.
Mayes was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery by bodily waste against a public safety officer, according to the WLPD crime log. As of Tuesday, no official charges have been made against Mayes.
