7/17/19 robbery suspect

Police are looking for this man in connection with a foiled robbery attempt in June.

Lafayette police are asking for the public's help in finding a robbery suspect from an incident last month.

At 2:13 a.m. June 22, police said they received a report of an attempted robbery in the 600 block of North Street. A 25-year-old woman was walking home from work when a male walked up to her from behind and attempted to steal her purse, according to a news release.

The male was not successful and ran when a neighbor intervened.

The suspect was described as a white male, 35 to 40 years old, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-7 and weighing 220 to 240 pounds. The male was also described as balding with a scruffy beard.

An image of the male was captured on a nearby surveillance camera. If anyone recognizes the male or has any information on the event, they are asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200, or through the anonymous WeTIP hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
