Sunday was the last day of The Egyptian Café and Hooka Bar.
Beginning Monday, The Egyptian will no longer be open for business. An employee who wanted to remain anonymous because of her frustration said the owners told the employees on only Jan. 23 that the bar was sold.
Everyone is frustrated about the closing announcement, she said.
Over the past week, the bar had a large red sign out front saying they were hiring servers, cooks and dishwashers and they could start immediately.
She said employees don’t know what will replace The Egyptian after renovations begin, but the entire inside will be torn up and replaced with something new.
“We don’t know what it’ll be, but it won’t be The Egyptian anymore,” she said.
