Over the weekend, downtown Lafayette closed down its streets to traffic and opened them up to pedestrian traffic, allowing restaurants to host outdoor seating on the streets. This was the second of six weeks of Fresh Air Eats, with Friday to Sunday reserved for outdoor dining until Oct. 4.

Marcy Buckley, co-owner of Bistro 501, along with her daughters Cheyenne and Theresa, said on Friday she's excited they have the opportunity to host people outdoors.

"This had been very good for us. We are taking extreme measures for indoor seating with social distancing, but this only allows us to have 50% capacity," Buckley said. "Adding street seating brings us up to 100% capacity, and the weather has been perfect for this."
