On an overcast Saturday afternoon, about 150 demonstrators came out to West Lafayette's City Hall to support the "Stop Asian Hate" cause. Speakers included Mayor John Dennis; city councilor Gerald Thomas, on behalf on the NAACP; Purdue Student Government President Assata Gilmore, on behalf of city councilor Shannon Kang; Purdue professor Li Qiao; Master Chai, a taekwondo instructor; and Harrison High School student Aaron Gu.

After the speakers addressed the crowd, everyone walked around City Hall chanting "Stop Asian Hate." Afterward a children's choir sang, "Light a Candle for Peace."
