A 50-37 halftime lead turned into a 96-67 blowout as No 7 Purdue started the season with a victory over Bellarmine. Leading by as much as 36 points in the second half, a barrage of 3-pointers and a lockdown defense allowed Purdue to pull away. Purdue shot 16 for 36 on 3-pointers, with senior guard Sasha Stefanovic and junior guard Isaiah Thompson both making five. Stefanovic led Purdue with 23 points. Purdue returns to action at 8:30 p.m., Friday when it hosts Indiana State (1-0 after winning at Green Bay, 81-77 on Tuesday night).
