A strong performance from a Purdue guard wasn't quite enough for victory in an 89-78 loss Thursday at Ohio State.
Senior K.K. Houser scored 26 points, including one rebound and three assists, in the Boilermakers' loss. It was the Boilers' eighth straight loss at OSU. The Buckeyes hold a 41-27 series edge – the only Big Ten team to own a winning record against Purdue (10-3, 0-1).
Aside from Houser, the Boilermakers struggled to find much offense. Only two other players (Whitney Bays and Courtney Moses) scored in double figures with 16 and 13, respectively.
Purdue shot only 43.5 percent from the floor to Ohio State's 63.6.
The Buckeyes (11-6, 1-0) had a slim 52-50 lead over the Boilermakers with 14:27 to play in the second half before taking control for good.
Ohio State used a hot 63.6 mark from 3-point range as it outscored Purdue 52-39 in the second half.
The Boilermakers will return to action at 7 p.m. Monday when they host undefeated Indiana (14-0, 1-0). The game will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network.
