For success in her first career start as a Boilermaker, freshman golfer Inez Wanamarta was named Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week.
Wanamarta receives the honor after tying USC's Muni He for individual medalist honors at last week's Minnesota Invitational. She shot a 10-under par 206 which tied the Purdue 54-hole tournament record. In her final round, Wanamarta dropped a five-under 67.
In each of the tournament's three rounds, Wanamarta improved her score. She opened with with a 2-under 70, followed by a 3-under 69 and closing with the 67. Her final round was the third-lowest score by a Purdue freshman in program history.
To close out the tournament, she played the final 28 holes at par or better, including an eagle and seven birdies.
The Boilers will next play on October 3 in Highland Park, Illinois, at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
