After another slow start that has been the trend of the last few weeks, the Purdue soccer team fell to Iowa 2-1 on Senior Day for its fourth consecutive loss.
The Boilermakers had plenty of chances to score. They out-shot the Hawkeyes 24-13 and took seven corner kicks to Iowa's three.
Purdue didn't break through the staunch Iowa defense until the 88th minute when freshman midfielder Kylie Hase took freshman forward Hannah Melchiorre's pass and knocked it into the net.
Seniors forward Maddy Williams and midfielder Andrea Petrina gave their all on Senior Day. The two combined for 14 shots, but only three shots on goal.
Iowa's goalkeeper, sophomore Claire Graves, made seven saves on the afternoon. Her performance, combined with the multiple blocks from the Hawkeye defense, gave Iowa the victory.
The Boilermakers will next take the pitch at 7 p.m. Friday at Penn State.
