The Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Butler Bulldogs 7-0 in Saturday's match in the Schwartz Tennis Center.
In doubles, the pairings of senior Nicole Robinson and freshman Rafaella Baquerizo defeated Butler junior Bailey Padgett and senior Jocelyn Koester in a decisive 6-1 victory. Freshman Caitlin Calkins and redshirt freshman Grace Schaffer also contributed a 6-1 victory.
The singles matches saw freshmen Alex Sabe and Baquerizo making their debut for the team and contributing majorly to the match.
Baquerizo was able to fend of Butler freshman Kendal Wilby in both sets, winning them 6-2 and 6-0 respectively. Sabe faced off with Butler senior Jocelyn Koester and was able to win both handily 6-1 and 6-2, locking down the fourth match point for the team and the overall singles victory.
The Boiler's next match will be at 3:00 p.m. Jan. 14 against Toledo.
