In a low-scoring sometimes ugly defensive game, Purdue (15-14, 8-10) built a 9-point halftime lead and cruised to a 57-49 win against rival Indiana (18-1-, 8-9) Thursday night in Mackey Arena. Trevion Williams led the Boilers with 19 points while teammate Eric Hunter, Jr. added 17. IU had one player in double figures, Devonte Green with 11. Neither team shot the ball well – Purdue was 21 of 56 from the field, 37.5 percent while IU was 15 of 59, 25.4 percent. The Boilers, however, dominated in the paint outscoring the visitors 34-20 in the paint.
