In its final home game of the season, Purdue fell to Rutgers 71-68 in overtime. As a result, the Boilermakers' (16-15, 9-11) NCAA hopes look grim. After trailing by 3 at halftime, 36-33, the teams battled back and forth to the end of the game. With 3 seconds left, Eric Hunter Jr. tied the game with the first of two free throws, but missed the second and the two teams headed to OT. The Knight then outscored the home team, 10-7, to earn the win. Sophomore guard Sasha Stefanovic lead Purdue with 22 points and five 3-pointers as the Boilermakers were 7 of 29 on long-range shots. Senior guard Evan Boudreaux finished with a team-best 10 rebounds during his last regular-season game at Mackey Arena. The Boilers will enter the Big Ten Tournament as its 10 seed and will play at 6:30 p.m., Thursday against an opponent to be determined as the regular season ends on Sunday.
