Steven M. Sipple, Parker Gabriel and Chris Basnett talk through a wild month of June so far in football recruiting and have a lengthy discussion about the Husker baseball team's run in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and what the next steps for Will Bolt's program look like.

Nebraska's 2022 recruiting class is beginning to grow in numbers quickly.

On Thursday afternoon, the Huskers landed a verbal commitment from running back Ashton Hayes (Reno, Nevada), McQueen coach Jim Snelling confirmed to the Journal Star.

Hayes (5-foot-11 and 180 pounds) put up terrific numbers as a sophomore at Damonte Ranch High in Reno, when he rushed for 2,429 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also had 346 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

In a shortened, five-game junior season for McQueen, Hayes rushed for 607 yards and seven scores.

He is the fifth member of Nebraska's 2022 class and the third to commit this month, following tight end Chase Androff (Lakeville, Minnesota) and quarterback Richard Torres (San Antonio).

Hayes had just wrapped up his official visit last weekend and picked Nebraska over Cal, where he took an official visit the first weekend of June, and several other schools.
