Purdue Soccer started off its league play strong, beating Nebraska 1-0 at Folk Field. The Boilermaker defense was the key to the victory, as Purdue recorded their fifth shutout of the season. Even though sophomore goalkeeper Marisa Bova only had one save, she still disrupted multiple Nebraska passes and corner kicks.
The Purdue defenders also stepped up, repeatedly stopping Nebraska shots and opportunities. In the 36th minute, Purdue scored the loan goal of the game as freshman forward Leanna Rebimbas challenged the Nebraska goalkeeper for a pass and ended up blocking the ball into the empty net for a goal.
