For the ninth consecutive season, the Purdue volleyball team has been ranked in the top 25 teams in the nation.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its preseason poll August 13, which ranked the Boilermakers 17th. The team is one of seven Big Ten teams appearing in the ranking. Five of those seven, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Penn State, are ranked in the top 10.
The Boilermakers will face all five of them as well as Kentucky, who is ranked 7th, in the regular season. Last season, Kentucky knocked Purdue out of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament in the second round, the 20th appearance in the program's history and the fourth consecutive appearance.
Purdue's 2018 season also featured the Boilermakers tally a perfect 12-0 non-conference record en route to a 24-win season.
The team's regular season begins on Sept. 1 against Ohio University in Holloway Gymnasium. Before then, the Boilers play the second of two preseason scrimmages on Aug. 24 at 2 p.m.
