Purdue volleyball swept Wright State, 3-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night. The No. 14 Boilers (23-7) started off strong, winning the first match, 25-9. Wright State came back in the second set, but fell, 25-22, as the lead was changed three times. Purdue moved forward in the third set, demolishing Wright State, 25-11. The Boilermakers were led by Junior outside hitter Caitlyn Newton and senior middle blocker Blake Mohler. The duo finished with 19 and 11 total points respectively. Mohler recorded 5 total blocks and a .400 hitting percentage while Newton scored 13 kills on 34 attempts.
Purdue faces Marquette at 7 p.m., Saturday in the second round of the tournament in Holloway Gym.
