For the first time since 2013, Purdue volleyball is heading to the Sweet 16. After starting slow and losing the first set, 22-25, to Marquette, the Boilermakers slowly picked up steam and won the next three sets 25-16, 25-17 and 25-13 to take the match, 3-1. With the win, Purdue advances to the Sweet 16 and will play Baylor on Friday in Waco, Texas. Junior outside hitter Caitlyn Newton led the Boilermakers, recording 23 of Purdue's 62 kills for 23.5 total points. Sophomore middle blocker Jael Johnson came off the bench and stepped up to the occasion, recording a team-best 3.5 blocks as Purdue recorded 14 on the night.
